I enjoyed looking at the page with the alien being shown metric measures and would love show it to the children I teach.  However, the spelling of litre in english is different from the US spelling - liter.  As I wouldn't want to confuse some of the young children with spelling differences (they have enough just learning the maths!) would it be possible to do an english conversion just as there is with the US standard on the page.:)

Hi I'm Kay and teach maths to primary age children.  I have a special interest in children with maths learning difficulties and am currently looking into teaching and understanding children with dyscalculia:)

The examples show that the decimal point moves - it doesn't, the decimal point never moves - the digits move.  I am already trying to undo some bad maths teaching and getting kids to understand place value.  I have really enjoyed looking through this web site and will use some of it in class (not this page though):)
