Sorry, got called away to do some shopping. It was easy to derive. I just solved smaller ones and curve fit. Settled on that polynomial right away.
It is not very rigorous but I am willing to bet it is okay.

New Problem! ( Easy one )
A's house is in the exact middle of the strip. The health food store is halfway between A's house and the western end of the strip. The MGM is between A's house and the eastern end of the strip. All the landmarks mentioned lie on a straigh line. If the MGM is 6 miles from eastern end of the strip and the health food store is 5 miles from the western end of town.
A says) So, if you are wise enough to know where the MGM is you can figure where I live. I will never tell.
B says) I know where you live already.
