I understand. But you will get it sooner or later.

What do you think about Canada as a place to live?

Re: weight lifting miracle today

I'll ask that question to poeple when I visit.  I really don't know about that one.  I think I'd rather live close to the border in the USA as long as travelling over the border isn't further restricted in the future.  Because speaking french 99% of the time would be a haunting task, well maybe not that bad, but I probably would never conguate all the verbs correctly until like 25 years went by.  Language is not my forte, I think math is, and even that I cannot do like the great geniuses as my memory banks fail me so I cannot make progressive strides to levels that require standing on shoulders.

Re: weight lifting miracle today

Yea, a good memory is a big asset. Some claim they are good without it but I do not see how that is possible.

Are there a lot of border restrictions now?

Re: weight lifting miracle today

Well I haven't gone to Canada for about 6 years, or 5 maybe, not sure, but the news says you need a passprot now, before I just needed a drivers license from NH or VT, depending where I lived.

I did not know that. Used to be no restrictions just a stop at a booth when I was there.

Re: weight lifting miracle today

Well the news isn't necessarily correct because in the late 90's, I sometimes could pass thru without even showing a license, just a friendly hello and i'm planning on visiting Trois-Riviere, par example.

That is the way it was but I understand the world has changed since then.

I guess, so I'm gonna get a passport before wasting 3 hours to get to the border and find out I have to go home.

That is the best idea. Where do you get a passport from?

Re: weight lifting miracle today

When I mentioned "tomato" earlier in a deli in Quebec, actuellement, it was (c'etait) some lettuce (des laitues) and she pronounced it Let-Sew, but all the dictionaries mustn't be Quebecois parceque (because) they say Leh-Two, sans (without) the "s" sound.

Re: weight lifting miracle today

I know I can get a passport photo taken in Keene, NH nearby, however, I do not know about the passport itself, maybe I'll ask one of those stores who takes the photo.  They probably know if you need to apply and get a form somewhere.

Re: weight lifting miracle today

We got an inch or two, two times in three days, making about 3 inches all together, very little.  We got it plowed though since it remains cold and won't melt and our driveway is 475 feet long plus or minus 150 feet, never actually measured it.

475 feet long! You live in a palace! Sounds great.

Yup!  we are truly fortunate.  My dad worked two jobs most of his life and got a great deal on this property in the 70's.

My father worked very hard too. I am afraid they do not make people like that anymore.

Re: weight lifting miracle today

Well, when i was working 70 hours a week in the early 90's, my manager-engineer too was working 105 hours some weeks, not kidding, he stayed overnight and never went home until they told him to go home and shower.  The machine worked in the end though.

I can't say, when I got the job, I had to sign something, so you wouldn't talk about the machines we made.

Re: weight lifting miracle today

I can tell you vaguely it was some kind of printing machine to print on some kind of objects.  I used Microsoft C for DOS back then to communicate to parts of the machine.  The electronics were handled by my manager-electrical-and-software guy who worked 105 hour weeks.
