I noticed that one too. They will have to be redone.

To be honest, I didn't like the older rankings like "Power, Super, Star, Legendary" etc. They seemed too, in lack of a better word, light-hearted.

Nowadays, I ocassionally get logged out immediately after posting something with a message saying "Bad request". The post is always posted, though.

Sounds like the 404 or 403 error with a slight different twist.

Re: Bugs, Security Flaws and suggestions

In the thread Random Chatter, there are 36 full pages of posts plus 1 post on the 37th page and since I have my preferences set to displaying 75 posts per page, there should be 2701 posts. It says 2700.

Similarly, at the time of writing this, I have 3202 posts. In my profile viewing my posts, there are 42 full pages of posts plus 9 posts on the 43rd page which would account to (due to me having my preferences set to displaying 75 posts per page) 3159, not 3202.

It never does match up right for me either.

Re: Bugs, Security Flaws and suggestions

I've discovered an interesting new bug today, quite by chance.  I use Internet Explorer 11 and it has this feature that it remembers pages I have visited and, when I click for  new IE page, it shows links to those pages.  Useful for getting back to a frequently used page.  So it remembers I've been on MIF.

So I log out; go to a new tab; there's the link to get back in; and it takes me there!  ie. without having to log in again.  Whoops.

EDIT: That's curious.  I am unable to repeat this.  I know I'm going senile, but I'm positive I did log out.  dizzy

YET ANOTHER EDIT:  It's just done it again.  I have two tabs to MIF.  The first says I'm logged out; the second is the one I'm using to make this edit.  I'm not logged in.

Opinion: the forum software is too buggy. The best thing could have been putting this forum into an archive and installing phpBB afresh but no one listens to me.....

It's because of the domain name. Like lets say you logout of http://www.mathisfunforum.com/ and you go to http://mathisfunforum.com/ you will still be loged in some goes with logining

On tabbed browsers it is possible to log out in one tab and stay logged in on the the other.

In FF I logout in one tab and the other tabs of this forum remain logged in.

Re: Bugs, Security Flaws and suggestions

Until the changes, I definitely could not do that.  I often log on; see a new help needed thread; decide I need to think about that one a while; so I open a fresh tab and see if there's any quick help threads I can deal with first.  So I often have two or three tabs open to the forum.  When I log out on one, the others appear to be logged in  as the page is still showing, but if I try to do anything I soon get told I'm not logged in.

Now that's still happening sometimes; but other times I can pick up MIF from my favourites list and I'm still logged in.  That's new for me; but it isn't happening every time.  What is different between times ? I'm not sure yet; more evidence needed.  I can live with this happening; it's just curious.

EDIT:  I've just opened a new tab; it said I was logged in so I logged out.  Then closed the tab.  On this tab I'm still logged in.

AND EDIT:  Just done it the other way round ie. logged out on the first tab.

AND ANOTHER:  Logged out on both tabs; closed both.  Re-opened one and it wants me to log in.  Did not do so.  Opened the second and I'm already logged in. ???

Generally, like you if I try to do anything with the open tabs I will be logged out, but every so often,,,

Many times, users are banned for no reason,i.e, even though no moderator bans him. If you remember correctly, I sent you an email about this long ago.

**Bug 3b**

The Paranoid software bug - random word blocking

Sometimes it so happens that I cannot post a particular message even though it is completely safe for the board. I am just taken to a 403 page.

I am getting a combination of these two.

Hi;

Just sit tight and wait. In 24 hours or so your isp will give you a new ip address, one that is not barred by the server. Then you will be able to log in normally.

Okay, thanks.

It seems this bug has been affecting people for over a year, after reading the posts in this thread.

Yep, there is nothing I can do about it since it does not originate in the forum or its software. I posted that warning to prevent it from happening again.

Re: Bugs, Security Flaws and suggestions

Yes, he also can not do very much about it. You see it is a security flaw in the server that hosts this forum.
