bobbym, Are you okay? It would be an insane task. Also, I want you to be productive doing more new problems than old. You can do this:
1. take the backup of the forum from MIF
2. Also take the images
3. Upload all the images somewhere else.
4. Scan the copy of the forum *using a script* to check the occurences of the images and replace them by hotlinked img tags.

My hypothesis is that this won't be very tough because the database storing the images also probably stores the post numbers.
What mod were you using, MIF? also, could you please tell me what the database of posts looks like in its raw form?

You still do not get the idea.
Each of the post that has an image attached must know that the image is attached. This is probably done by adding some special data at the end of the field that contains that post.
Evidently, the special data is not itself the image but a link to it.
For the sake of the argument, assume those fields are like this:
Here's my post and attached is the picture
<include picture=agnishom'>You'll do this:
1. Upload the 99 mb folder of images somewhere else
2. Find each instruction that wants to attach an image and replace it with a suitable img tag.
Ofcourse to do this, you'll need a full copy of the forum from MIF

You cannot get it online. You need the copy of the forum database and the files from Rod himself.
I could try but I do not think MIF will find me responsible or trusted enough to receive the file.

Lets say a post is missing the uploaded file xyz.gif, then find xyz.gif in the 99Mb zip file, drag and drop it into (say) imgur, which gives you a link. Put that link in place of the missing file.
There may be better ways, though.

What sort of madness are you talking about?
Loss of the images means loss of 50% of the sensible math around here. Supposing you could do all the geogebra problems done till date. What if the forum goes an upgrade once again after 10 years? Will you do double the work again?

Actually, that is what I am telling. 99 mb contains a heck lot of images, so I do not think you can go through this by hand. You need a script.
