The thing I like most is the formalism and rigour.
Referring to math? If so, you have spotted a problem of mine. In school I could get the correct answers (usually) but I often could not explain how I got them. I have a job now, (RF calibration technician) and the other day an Engineer presented me with a math question he said any 7th grader should be able to answer. I really worked on it, and it took a long time and I showed him how I got the answer, and he said I had just come up with a gimmick and could not explain a certain ratio I had figured out. However, I did later come up with what I think is a reasonable explanation.
Where is the best place to put an algebra question on the forum? I will present the question there. There is actually a little twist to the plot (which I have not worked on yet) - but it would be best if we can mutually agree to the correct answer to the first question first - of course I am sure there will be more than one way to go about answering the question.

It appears to me that if one wants to make progress in mathematics, one should study the masters and not the pupils. - Niels Henrik Abel.
