Boy let me tell you what:
I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a fiddle player too.
And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.

in the fear to be unpopular i will make a reply that is slightly more on topic. you see, imagine the space time continuam.
imagine a peice if cloth that is woven in 2 directions, vertically and horizontally
( there is actaully 4 dimensions but i am not going to bother witht that at the moment)
one of those directions of string is TIME, the other is space.
that picture of a black hole is only an artists impression, a real drawing would be nothing at all, teh only way we know about black hole is by losing out reflected signals, that is that the black hole pulls them in.
a black hole is the singularity, it is teh absence and the only fault in existance.
what enters there turns to nothingness. it enters the world of anti-matter/
you see Newtons second law says everythinhg has an opposite as matter has an opposite
you see that actaully Einstien was a bit off the mark when he says that E=MC^2
it is actaully E=+ or - MC^2
so antimatter has the same amount of energy as matter
so it stays balanced
anyway back to the cloth, well now imagine putting weights on this cloth
it sags
these sags are how space time light and mass travel around it, this is the force of gravity on EVERYTHING absolutely everything, this cloth is the assortment of different things form space to time to light (EMW-electromagnetic waves).
now a black hole is this cloth with a hole in it.
this never ending cloth has a puncture where all that enters is lost into the anti-universe.
this may sound Sci-FI but it does fulfill all scientific laws and is the most prominent suggestion among sceintists today.
hope i answered your question.

wow that was long winded, any faults and just reply here, i know stuff on this topic, and believe me it is depressing, just to know how far we are from making a difference, and really it is absolutely useless in life but what the hell.

Actually a very clear explanation of a difficult topic. Well done.
But it is not depressing. I know that the sheer size of the universe makes us look small, but on the other hand our minds are able to hold these large and deep concepts. Physically we are puny, but mentally we are large.

thanks, i tend to explain this topic alot, i find it is easier if we stop thinking about how small we are and try to make ourselves bigger
( not litterally but make a bigger difference)
because there is no point in knowing how big it is unless we can be that large and there are limitations, as tehre are no limitations i think that we should just reach for the stars and constantly achieve more. ( no pun intended)

Oh, absolutely.
I would like to see a viable self-sufficient community off earth. That would be a good start.

Impossible....at the present time.

records are made and rebroken, if we could travel at the speed of light then what would be the point, you would lose all decent car games ( i spy, etc)

Sorry, to change the subject, but I just realised the secret to thinkdesign's avatar! Look carefully...
I would redeem myself by contributing to the conversation, but I can't think of anything to add.
Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.

I see it too! That's pretty cool.

If we were to find out how insignificant we were in the universe our minds would commit suicide, we'd be veggies. (as in brain dead)
I have taken this from a very reliable source.
Dude...
