Er, how can I explain this...it's the amount of phonics or SOUNDS in a word.

Dog = 1 syllable
Jigsaw = 2 syllables
Explaining = 3 syllables
Reputation = 4 syllables
Congratulations = 5 syllables
Floccinaucinihilipilification = 12 syllables

Yes, that's right. It must go in the order of 5-7-5, syllable-wise. Haikus are actually quite easy when they have a background and meaning to them.

It really shouldn't since it is spam, it just defeats the purpose of making a Haiku. Plus, each of those is 1 syllable, try to make it interesting.

Not right, the last line has 6 syllables, unless you forgot to slip a 'he' in to the sentence before you posted it.

Here's the poor pluto haiku:
Mercury Venus
Earth Mars Jupiter Saturn
Uranus Neptune

This one is called 20% reduction plan Haiku:

Earth is warming up.
Life as we know it may end.
Burn fossil fuels.

Fossil fuels? What?
Is that some kind of a joke?
Burn fossil fuels.

Burn less gasoline.
Everything will be alright.
Everything's at stake!!

Too much C-O-2.
And pollution more complex.
Earth's blanket of air.

I think Devantè meant that lightning's last line had 6, when it should have had 5.
And yes, John's are excellent. Especially the one that's made up of a bunch of them.

Nice work, John. I spotted a couple of 6s, but they were very good. It reminds me of a popular mnemonic I made a long time ago;

Many Viruses Effect Man...Just Say U Need Protecting!

It's a mnemonic for the order of all the planets in the Solar System (originally). The 'e' in effect should be an 'a', but it doesn't matter. Perhaps I could insert this into a haiku.
