No, I found it out myself.  Why is it wrong?

Hmm, yours solution is right but actually  I a
Had found  a different  solution. It is

Thus we can take y as 2 and z as 1

Where did you get x as 1.609608190...??

Hi;
your 1st answer is now correct. Yes you told right that we always rationalize the denominator... but still 1/√5 is more simpler... we rationalize the denominator when we have a fraction whose numerator or denominator is composed of more than 1 term. Example

will be written as
. But I think that 1/√5 is more simpler than √5/5.

Your 2nd answer(answer of the 4th question) is wrong. Take x as 1 and then see it would not be matching.

In mif, in the Trigonometry Index there are a lot of topics and every topic has 10 exercises to do. You can practice those. It really helped me too. Otherwise, there are a LOT of books available in the market for trigonometry. If you want you can buy.

#336 Re: Help Me ! » One more time: Homework help with expressions and exponents » 2017-03-15 23:25:03

Welcome to the forum.

1. Rewrite each expression in simpler form using exponents: (6x)(6x)(6x)(6x)

Do, you know what exponents are. Exponents or power of a number is the no. of times the no. is multiplied (by itself). For more explained information Exponents Section in mif.

So, since here

is multiplied 4 times it is

In The 2nd question just expand it into the multiplication form( as bobbym had done) and then reduce it.

The 3rd question will also be the same...

Hope it helps.

#337 Re: Maths Teaching Resources » Maths Books » 2017-03-15 22:20:15

No; only in the 1st question; for the rest questions you have to simplify them, understood.

Your 1 st answer is correct but you need to simplify the fraction.

The only trouble with chat is that we can't monitor conversations with younger members (a duty of care).

I can upgrade you to Real Member so you can PM (not really the same, but still helpful).

What is PM...???

The most interesting thing I have found in maths till now is the amazing relationship between Fibbonacci Series, The Golden Ratio and Nature. It has really amazed me. I also find pascal's triangle very interesting. There are 7 things that leaves me awestruck about pascal's triangle.

Maybe more than 1000 posts! After 1000 posts you automatically become a super member! But strictly no spamming is permitted! Let it take its time, you would be a real member!

In User list many people have thousand and more than that no. of posts still many of them are still "members". On the other hand many of them has less than thousand and hundred and very less posts and still they are moderators or real members. Administrators are only two bobbym and mathsisfun.  It seems that mif promotes those persons who are for very long time registered. The most recent registered user who is  promoted to a moderator or real member(according to user list) has registered in the year 2011. Still many old users do not have been promoted. I am also in a confusion for a struct rule or getting promoted by mif. Bob bundy had already explained me that due to some hackers who joined ago many trusted users where getting promoted to remove them. But...does that mean that no one will get promoted until another group of hackers join... Plz may i get this reply from Mathsisfun.

Hi HannahBanana,
I do not know whether you know how to solve linear equations or not;yes it seems like your school homework and if you don't know then I would recommend you to first read Solving Equationsin Maths is fun(and you may practice the exercises in there as well) and then try to solve the questions yourself.
