Teach Pythagorean Theorem in 10 seconds

Everyone knows A+B=C, but this is often taught without any explanation as to why.

I'm not an established user yet (no link posting) so

[Thanks to the admin for posting the animation!]

I have posted the animation here.

That is the best I can do to just keep the math and leave out the strong comments.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it.
All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof.

Very interesting...

Life isnt a simple Math: there are always other variables.  -[unknown]

Re: Teach Pythagorean Theorem in 10 seconds

Hi there! These are very simple and smart proofs. I suggest you also to give a look to:

http://farside.ph.utexas.edu/euclid/Elements.pdf
Book1, Prop.48, Prop.49

the second one (if i remember good) is the Inverse theorem (i.e. if a triangle is such that c=a+b, then it's rectangle).

hi Fistfiz

Thanks for that link.  That brings back memories.  I had to learn that proof many, many years ago.  smile
