If I look into a dot deb with an extractor will they contain .run files?

The extractor has uncompressed them. When they are compressed they are gibberish.

There is a big distro CAELinux, OpenFOAM is one of the included softwares. Never used it, though.

Not worth the download if OpenFOAM is the only one you need.
