18x^2 – 24xy + 8y^2

=2(9x^2-12xy+4y^2)
=2{(3x)^2-2(3x)(2y)+(2y)^2}
=2(3x-2y)^2

but the answer given is 2(3x + 2y)^2

A. Factorise completely:

    (a) 18x^2 – 24xy + 8y^2

the answer i get is 2(3x+y)^2

but the answer given is 2(3x + 2y)^2

    B.Factorise the following:
    (a) (x – 4)(x + 1) + 4a – ax

the answer i get is (x-4)(x+1-a)

but the answer given is (x-4)(x-1-a)

Queation 6

Area of 2 rectangles=L*W+L*W=6*7+6*7=84
Area of sqare=9*9=81

Total Area=165

Now is it right ?

#6 Re: Help Me ! » Volume and surface area of right prism (Answer Check) » 2010-08-21 13:28:45

u used this formula 2(L*W+L*H+W*H) to get the answer ?

#8 Re: Help Me ! » Volume and surface area of right prism (Answer Check) » 2010-08-21 13:20:36

I know its wrong but i want the correct answer.
All my volume answers are correct but area answers are not.So i want the correct answers for area of Question 2,3 and 6

#9 Re: Help Me ! » Volume and surface area of right prism (Answer Check) » 2010-08-21 13:07:29

Whats the Surface Area of Question number 2,3 and 6 ?

Formula used to get surface area for the above mentioned answers is 2(L*W+L*H+W*H)

#11 Re: Help Me ! » Volume and surface area of right prism (Answer Check) » 2010-08-18 23:05:04

Here are the answers.

1)Volume=1344,Area=864

2)volume of square=864
Volume of rectangle=108
Total Volume=972

Area of square=720
Area of rectangle=180
total surface area=900

3)Volume of triangle=336
Area of triangle488

4)volume=288
Area=368

5)??

6)Total Volume=2520

Total surface area=1684

Thanks for all the help. One thing i want to understant is that why for perimeter 2 perimeters are added instead of subtracting like the same as finding the area of the shaded region

#15 Re: Help Me ! » Area and Perimeter of Shaded region (ANSWERS CONFIRMATION) » 2010-08-17 22:55:52

but how can i do that ? Can u give me ur email id so i can mail the image to u

I need a simple way to solve this question.

It takes 3 men  to gig 2 identical trenches in 5 hours .If all the men work at the same rate ,how long will it take 5 men to dig 7 of these trenches ?

i have solved it this way through the help of an example in the book.

Solution

First we keep the number of trenches constant

No of men     No of trenches        No of Hours

3                     2                           5

1                     2                           5*3

5                     2                           (5*3)/5=3

Next we keep the number of men constant

No of men      No of trenches       No of Hours
5                     2                            3

5                     1                            3/2=1.5

5                     7                             1.5*7=10.5

Therefore 5 men will take 10.5 hours  to dig 7 identical trenches.

I want a simpler solution to this.
