oh i realise my mistake, thank you!
Would (2t^-3)^-2 be 2t^6 or 1/(1/64t^6)?
Great thats a much cleaner way. Thanks!
Woo my first ever right answer on the help me forum filled me with confidence for my exam next week
Hey...
Just wondering if there is a quick and easy way of doing this question?
The number 1104 can be written as 3 x 2^c x d, where c is a whole number and d is a prime number. Work out the value of c and the value of d.
I got the right answer... but i got there by dividing 1104 by 3, writing out the first 15 prime numbers and the first few powers of 2, and seeing which 2 of these numbers would give me 368. Is there a quicker or better way of doing it? (non calculator paper)
Aah i never thought of it like that, but even if we never actually reach the 8, we still know it's there don't we? so couldn't we argue that 0.999...² could not posible be 1 as a result of this 8, therefore 0.999... could not be 1 either, because 1² = 1.
Yep thats exactly what i meant! the papers ive been doing mostly ask to estimate the mean from a c.f. diagram... so i now know to use (n+1)/2 to find the middle value. Thanks
Devantè! how are you? you said i would become a 'full member' at 30+ posts! i now have 36 posts and im still just a member!! (actually this is my 37th!)
Its ok. I find it impossible to understand the concept of 'infinity'. I dont think anyone can. So, it feels more logical if that 'line' is in fact a circle - so we are not going 'infinitely' slowly, yet we can never reach the end, as there is no end.
Wouldn't 'infinitely slow' imply it is not moving at all?
What would 0.999999...9² be? Wouldn't it have a 1 and an 8 in it? so it couldnt equal 1, but 1² = 1?
But how can there be and end if it will never be reached? surely it will just 'be', with no end.
Thats kinda what im saying - if the end of time will never be reached, then the end of time will never happen.
But surely if it takes infinitely long to reach that point in time, that point in time will never be reached - so it will never happen?
If that will take an infinitely long time, then wont it never happen?
Slightly changing the subject but not completely - how does everyone think the universe was created? I dont think it was the 'Big Bang'. The big bang theory says the universe started from an extremely hot and dense state, and has been expanding for around 14 billion years. But where did the material that started the big bang come from? And if there was no universe, what was it in?
I think it looks really good... nice colours and its easy to use! It is also young, but not too young. Its got a better layout than the old one - its easier to see where things are. I think it would go down well !
ooh... are you at uni or what?
im 15.... in the middle of my gcses... the next one's maths
im hoping for minimum of 9 A*s and 2 As
Maybe!! What age are you by the way?
ok you may never be able to reach the end of that interval, but you can still imagine the end whilst not being there? what would the edge a universe that is both infinite and expanding look like? and what is it expanding into?
If the universe is expanding, what happens when you get to the edge of it? And i dont see how it can be both infinite and expanding - because if it was expanding, there must be and edge that is expanding, but if it was infinite then there would be universe already beyond that edge. Does anyone understand what i mean?
That ws really good! Why only in 2007 though?
yes im in year 11.... but im not 16 yet!
