to SvenBee, you just use hide tags

It works like this: {hide=I want to hide} this!{/hide}

Only using [ brackets. If we do the above, it would look like this:

Oops, I didn't see that one. Sorry!

To get the mean (which is the average, right?), just multiply the number of occupants with the number of cars, add them all up, and divide the number from the total number of cars:

Total
Occupants             Cars
2 x 25 = 50             25
3 x 20 = 60             20
4 x  3  = 12              3
5 x  2  = 10              2
          =132         =50

132 / 50 = 2.64

So the mean is 2.64

Sorry, just 13 here:/... hehe:D

I guess you just have to place that number into the equation, replacing x:

and simplifying it.

Or maybe there's something more to functions that I don't know of...dunno

P.S. I'm just fooling around here with the LaTeX tongue

The first two numbers are 5 and 2. The two remaining possible answers are 528 and 520 big_smile

Guess#4: 528

I keep on forgetting the volume of a sphere. I squared the radius, hehe.

Oh, yeah, to solve an equation with two variables, you need two equations.
In this case, the two equations are:
3x+15=2y (given)
        x=-y (since x is the opposite of y)

Just place the value of x (-y) to the first equation:

3(-y) + 15 = 2y
  -3y + 15 = 2y
           15 = 5y
              3=y
             -3=x

Voila! all there is to it!
