Music; what's your song?

So, as I noticed, no-one's asked in a thread before about "Music" and what your taste is. So, here we are. A place to express yourself in the musical arts.

If you wish, you can post your favourite genre of music, your favoured band or even one of your most adored song. Do what you will but keep it musical.

Any reference to "cabbage slapping" will get deleted from this topic.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Favourite Genre: Ska.
Favourite Band: (Even though contradicting the favourite genre) Queen.
Favourie Song: (One of them is) 99 Red Balloons by Goldfinger.

You and I in a little toy shop
Buy a bag of balloons with the money we've got
Set them free at the break of dawn
'Til one by one they were gone
Back at base, bugs in the software
Flash the message, something's out there
Floating in the summer sky
Ninety-nine red balloons go by

Ninety-nine red balloons
Floating in the summer sky
Panic bells, it's red alert
There's something here from somewhere else
The war machine springs to life
Opens up one eager eye
Focusing it on the sky
As ninety-nine red balloons go by

Ninety-nine decisions treat
Ninety-nine ministers meet
To worry, worry, super scurry
Call out the troops now in a hurry
This is what we've waited for
This is it, boys, this is war
The President is on the line
As ninety-nine red balloons go by

Neunundneunzig Kriegsminister
Streichholz und Benzinkanister
Hielten sich für schlaue Leute
Witterten schon fette Beute
Riefen: Krieg und wollten Macht
Mann, wer hätte das gedacht?
Daß es einmal so weit kommt
Wegen neunundneunzig Luftballons
Neunundneunzig Luftballons

Ninety-nine dreams I have had
And every one a red balloon
It's all over, and I'm standing pretty
In the dust that was a city
I could find a souvenir
Just to prove the world was here
Here it is, a red balloon
I think of you and let it go

Boy let me tell you what:
I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a fiddle player too.
And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.

Re: Music; what's your song?

I like popcorn. I would do a Zach on it, but that would mean that I'd have to type "Do do doo do do doo do" repeatedly.
As I've already said, I HATE the crazy frog for ruining this song.

I like all types of music (my friends say i am "eclectic" I don't know if that is good or not), but have a particular leaning towards Trance, House, Chillout, Electronica etc. (Have a listen to http://www.digitallyimported.com/ )

Re: Music; what's your song?

Favorite Rock Band: Rush
Favorite Ska Band: Five Iron Frenzy
Favorite Jazz/Swing Band: The Squirrel Nut Zippers
Best Contemporary Christian CD: "Jars of Clay", by Jars of Clay (their later CD's weren't very good)
Favorite Choir: Mormon Tabernacle Choir
Best "unclassifiable": Béla Flek.
Best New Age: Adiemus
Best Guitar God: Joe Satriani
Best Undiscovered Gem: Rated Hero (look them up on Myspace and purevolume)
Runners up to the previous: Hourglass, Allred, Orion's Room

CD's I want to buy, but am too poor: Roper, "Beyond the Desert" by Dave Beegle, the new Better than Ezra, and stuff from The Fray.

I have odd taste in music. smile

A little bit, as long as it isn't opera.

I was sitting in my chair
just waiting there
waiting for my love to arrive
and along came my prince
my beautiful love
and guess what he said
he said I've fallen inlove (with you)
and I said it is so nice
just to be your wife
it is great even to be your mate
great to be your mate
I lova you

I hope you like it
because I had fun making it tongue

Ok now greenday rocked until recently, their new stuff is a bit mainstream and sucky! My chemical romance rox so much and i am going to see them in a month and a few days! I love loads of music apart from all chav music *throws up* I am going to see the blues brothers the weekend after this with a guy i really like (unfortunately he is 4 years older than me and has a girlfriend) I was listening to robbie williams the other night (my secret passion) I had the used in my head all last week (box full o sharp objects, blue n yellow etc.) and it is a real shame blink are no longer around! I like TMBG as i saw someone wrote about them and i am currently into Death Cab For Cutie!

denmark ftw? big_smile

Anyway, I listen to all kinds of music. I have all sorts of music. Jazz, rock, hip hop(mostly danish underground), electronical, ... I'm not the kinda guy who likes one genre and then only listens to that. A song I like very much at the moment is Jack Johnson - Banana Pancakes

You hardly even notice
When I try to show you this
Song it’s meant to keep you
From doing what you’re supposed to
Like waking up too early
Maybe we could sleep in
I’ll make you banana pancakes

Pretend like it’s the weekend now
And we could pretend it all the time
Can’t you see that it’s just raining
There ain’t no need to go outside

But just maybe, hala ka ukulele
Mama made a baby
I really don’t mind the practice
Because you’re my little lady
Lady, lady love me
Because I love to lay here lazy
We could close the curtains

Pretend like there’s no world outside
And we could pretend it all the time
Can’t you see that it’s just raining
There ain’t no need to go outside

Ain’t no need, ain’t no need
Can’t you see, can’t you see
Rain all day and I don’t mind

Telephone singing, ringing, it’s too early
Don’t pick it up
We don’t need to
We got everything we need right here
And everything we need is enough
It’s just so easy
When the whole world fits inside of your arms
Do we really need to pay attention to the alarm
Wake up slow, wake up slow

But baby, you hardly even notice
When I try to show you this
Song it’s meant to keep you
From doing what you’re supposed to
Like waking up too early
Maybe we could sleep in
I’ll make you banana pancakes

Pretend like it’s the weekend now
And we could pretend it all the time
Can’t you see that it’s just raining
There ain’t no need to go outside

Ain’t no need, ain’t no need
Rain all day and I really really really don’t mind
Can’t you see, can’t you see
We’ve got to wake up slow
