Hi 123ronnie321,
Cool, it's really a nice program!
I haven't noticed that shape in my cup either. Maybe we need a very wide cup!

They are supposed to be 4.0 and a 3D version out soon.

A 3D version will make it much better!
We can visualize some real world problems, which is difficult to do with pencil and paper.

I downloaded the 4.0 beta. Have not installed it yet. The list of features really looks good.

Yes. Many new commands added, can do much of statistics also!

Not yet. Did you?
Update-
I tried version 3.9.278, It's *awesome*! Good improvements...
Admin had written yesterday that 3.9.279 allows us to drag implicit curves also. It wasn't there for download yet.

Hi gAr;
Thanks for telling me. I downloaded 3.9.278 but I have not put it in yet.
I read about the improvements when I saw that some people were beta testing 4 and 3D. But it was not for ready for general use.

Hi bobbym,
I ran it directly, since it's a jar file, installation was not necessary.
But a little surprised since it should run on any OS, why have they kept separate downloads?
I couldn't find a download for 3D version, is it available?

Hi gAr;
I have not seen it as a jar file. That is correct as a jar file any computer with the Java Runtime Environment should be able to run it.
I could not find the download for the 3D version but I was on a site where they were discussing it.

Hi,
Okay.
I saw that for 3D version, installers are available for linux as rpm files.
Did you try 3.9.278?

Hi gAr;
Not yet. I am busy working on another problem. As soon as I have some answer to that one I will.

Hi;
Luckily I think the two problems are related. It looks like the new geo might be a capable implicit function grapher. And that is what the other person needs!

I tried trigonometric functions in the implicit form, doesn't plot!

I was afraid of that. That is too bad.
When you start geo, what jar file do you run?

Okay.
java -jar geogebra.jar
Probability and curve fittings are available, that's nice.

Also, points and shapes are more dynamic. In earlier versions many points and polygons were fixed.
For instance if a point got drawn on the x or y axis I could not get it off of that, but now there is an attach/detach command.

Hi soroban,
Good one!
Hi bobbym,
Got the geogebra 3D running!
But 3D view takes 90% CPU even when it's left idle.

I guess we ought to be grateful they left us with 10%. That is obviously a bug.
Hi soroban;
I did not know that limit could be done like that! Thanks for providing that!

Hi bobbym,
But overall, the graphics is neat.
Once 3D is done, it'll be the coolest interactive geometry software on earth!

Hi,
I downloaded from
http://download.opensuse.org/repositori … eimdall78/
All the rpms contain the same jar files I think. Just extract it to a directory.
To run 5 beta, I installed
antlr (2.7.7-16ubuntu1)
libantlr-java (2.7.7-16ubuntu1)
libjogl-java (1.1.1+dak1-9)
libjogl-jni (1.1.1+dak1-9)
libjava3d-java (1.5.2+dfsg-5)
libjava3d-jni (1.5.2+dfsg-5)
libvecmath-java (1.5.2-2)

Hi;
Okay thanks! When I get around to putting Ubuntu 10.10 in...
Concerning Geogebra 4.0 b, how come no CAS has incorporated a similar idea inside their package? This idea of interactive geometry is really a powerful, experimental tool.
