They are supposed to be 4.0 and a 3D version out soon.

A 3D version will make it much better!
We can visualize some real world problems, which is difficult to do with pencil and paper.

I tried version 3.9.278, It's *awesome*! Good improvements...
Admin had written yesterday that 3.9.279 allows us to drag implicit curves also. It wasn't there for download yet.

Thanks for telling me. I downloaded 3.9.278 but I have not put it in yet.

I read about the improvements when I saw that some people were beta testing 4 and 3D. But it was not for ready for general use.

I ran it directly, since it's a jar file, installation was not necessary.
But a little surprised since it should run on any OS, why have they kept separate downloads?

I couldn't find a download for 3D version, is it available?

I have not seen it as a jar file. That is correct as a jar file any computer with the Java Runtime Environment should be able to run it.

I could not find the download for the 3D version but I was on a site where they were discussing it.

Also, points and shapes are more dynamic. In earlier versions many points and polygons were fixed.

For instance if a point got drawn on the x or y axis I could not get it off of that, but now there is an attach/detach command.

Concerning Geogebra 4.0 b, how come no CAS has incorporated a similar idea inside their package? This idea of interactive geometry is really a powerful, experimental tool.
