Re: Area problems Please Help!!

Yeah I drew is out. After dividing it, its a right triangle. So if I'm on the right track so far then the short side is 1.5 and hypoteneuse is 3 and the long side is 1.5√3?

Okay so is it: (1/2 )1.5(1.5√3)?

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

Nope!

There are 2 of these in the big triangle so:

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

You mean in decimal? Let me give you a little tip. There is never any need to convert to decimal when you have fractions. I know you want to, but that is the answer. If you really need the decimal then.

one side is 1.5 that is 3/2 the others side is ( 3 / 2 ) √3 formula is  (1/2) b *h

So ( 1/ 2) 3/2 * ( 3 / 2 ) √3 = (9/8)√3 is the Area of the little triangle.

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

Now there are 2 of them in the big triagle you should have drawn. so multiply by 2

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

Sorry missed you last post so multiply my answer by 2?

Okay so from there then we have to find the area of the sector?

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

What have you got for the big triangle? Now subtract it fron 1 / 6 of the Area of a circle.

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

So the big triangle is (9/8)√3 times 2? then is that 18/16)√3? Or something like that?

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

Nope, Not (18/16) but (18 / 8)√3 = (9/4)√3

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

What is 1/6 of the area of a circle?

A = π r^2, A = 9 π , 1/6 of that is (9/6)π = (3/2)π

Area of the segment

As =(3/2)π - (9/4)√3 and you are done!

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

ohayou gozaimasu bobii sensei! smile

Sorry for the Delay, my comp was acting strange and I had to restart (and ended up brushing my teeth, too) dizzy

Okay so these area probs are a bit different and I don't know what to do with them.

Here is the problem: Find the area of the shaded sections.

*I'll go ahead upload some images for you, m'dear.

Hi misheeru;

This one is a little on the easy side , have you tried anything yourself?

No, thats because I don't really know how to come about solving these. If its easy like you say, then if you tell me how to get started maybe I can do the rest.

How much of the Area of the whole circle are you interested in?

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

All it wants me to do is to find the area of the shaded parts. They all say that and I have a ton of them! yikes

Re: Area problems Please Help!!

How much of the area of the circle is in the unshaded part? Look at the angles.
