Make 1000 using 8 8s

Another solution is

(8x8x8-8)x((8+8)/8)-8

Re: Make 1000 using 8 8s

Hi goodwinrobert;

While looking to see whether my solution is new ( which I doubt because of it's simplicity ) I came across this page.

http://www.redhotpawn.com/board/showthr … adid=49374

Aginis' solution is brilliant.

Here is mine:

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.

Hi G-man;

How does that equal 1000?

Re: Make 1000 using 8 8s

phrontister's "CONCATENATE" one is not a solution.
What amounts to (1, 0, 0, 0) is not 1000, so it does
not count.

I wish a had a more interesting signature line.

Hi reconsideryouranswer;

The concantenate command does exactly that: conc(1,0,0,0) = 1000.

Re: Make 1000 using 8 8s

Sorry if this was already mentioned, I didn't see it smile

(8x8 +8x8)x8 -8 -8 -8
= 8(64+64) -24
= 1024-24
=1000
