Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Writing it again will not convince me it is correct. You can try it one more time and see if I will go for it.

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Yes, amazing. Incredible, stupendous, marvelous but also wrong. What is the last of those two binomials?

When you work on something you are usually darn close.

Well if it isn't -3y and -y then what are they?

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Yes that is okay but it is slightly different from what you wrote up there.

Is it not?

Wow. I need to buy a mallet to make my facepalms more powerful.

Sorry about that... however I did not make a mistake. Remember what you said? Thats was a typo. lol

Re: Equations with parenthesis?

Alright...

(2x - 3y)(4x - y)

*F* (2x)(4x) = 8x²

*O* (2x)(y) = 2xy

*I*  (-3y)(4x) = -12yx

*L* (- 3y)(-y)

= 8x² + 2xy - 12yx + 3y²

I removed the - sign as you can see because I though a negative times a negatinve = a positive. Even though y is a variable and not a number, the rule still applies right?

Well, that is what I have. It might be right. You might consider it. You know, at least think about it. Get in touch with the child within and consult him/her.

My inner child is a him? Its all staring to make sense now...

Alright smartie-pants... so we have:

8x² - 2xy - 12yx + 3y²

Do every thing look correct, or just darn close?

Bobbym,

how does (2x - 3y)(4x - y) for the next problem?

That did not clarify much.
