Are humans stupid?

Are humans greedy and stupid or just stupid?
After the Gulf fiasco ( or before ) they came up with this delightful idea!

http://www.wisegeek.com/are-there-reall … ations.htm

the chances of an oil spill during extended exploration and drilling for oil is about one in five. There is no way to clean up spilled oil under the sheets of ice that cover much of the Arctic.

With 8 of them operating continuously. We can use simple probabilty to determine the chance of an oil spill. We get:

With p = 1/5

Or alternatively we can compute the chances of no spill and subtract from 1.

About 5 chances out of 6 there will be a spill. We are not told the time frame so...

The expected yield from the stations = 75 billion barrels of oil, Since the world consumption is 86 billion barrels per day, this is less than a 1 day supply!!!

Now how about the nuclear reactors in the floating power stations?

Environmentalists and many non-Russians are leery of the project because of the potential for a nuclear disaster

No odds given here. But we do not have to worry, the following quote allays all our fears:

Russian scientists claim that the stations are completely safe

Ever hear of Chernobyl, guys? How much do they pay these guys?

Re: Are humans stupid?

I think 'some humans are greedy, some are stupid, some are greedy and stupid and some are none of these (thankfully!)'

Re: Are humans stupid?

Good answer! Reminds me of an an old Chinese proverb, circa 600 AD?!

Yes, a picture is truly worth a thousand words and also uses more memory.

hi

I hadn't realised that the Chinese had computer memory in AD 600.

Yes, they were unusually clever back then. If you search carefully you can find that one of the Khans has an amazing resemblance to Bill Gates.

Stunning evidence! Yes that is him! It is hard to believe that no one believes this.

Re: Are humans stupid?

OK. It's taken a while to get my head around your statement.  Hopefully these diagrams will help others who are trying to follow your logic.

The first is a standard Venn diagram.

But if you are in B then logically you cannot be in A so the second diagram more correctly applies.

But if you are in B then you believe the correct diagram is the third.

No wonder it's hard !dizzy

Re: Are humans stupid?

I don't even have to read the other posts to say that my answer is yes. But that's just my opinion. Although I do know some really smart people, they must not be human...

They say the gods had a modern society with computers. Possibly some of them told one or 2 of the generals, after that it was just to give it some long thinking.

I guess the gods society sorta collapsed.

Re: Are humans stupid?

More than computers. many believe this is not the first technologically advanced society that this planet has nurtured. Although we are certainly the most primitive one.

If they really could astral project... Then probably. Unless it was like a computer meeting?
