Re: Algebra word problems

Yes, that's the way I typed it in. It is obviously not wrong or it would say so, but there again it will switch over after one more.

Hi;

That is not what I meant. Is this the correct problem?

Re: Algebra word problems

I have to turn an argumentative essay on Friday that's  not written yet. I will fit it in on Thursday. I am digging my way through math and thankful for your help.

I clicked it again and it reflected the right side was 1.2

I have about twenty minutes left for the night. How about another one:
Take your pick: It will help me either way.

The distance between City A and City B is 500 miles. On a certain wall map, this is represented by a length of 1.9 ft. On the map how man feet would there be between City C and City D, two cities that are actually 700 miles apart?
On the map, City C and City D are____feet apart.
(Simplify your answer. Type an integer or a decimal.

Find the measure of the supplement of a 77* angle.
The measure of the supplement of a 77* angle is ____*
(Simplify of course) LOL

Re: Algebra word problems

Might as well that is the correct answer. I even had the computer check it.

I hope it is a good day. I heard an old saying one time "any day above ground is a good one." Sometimes though i wonder.
See you later.

Re: Algebra word problems

Hello, this evening. Hope your day went well. Mine was long as usual, just got home at dark.
Do you know anything about Geometry? I hope so. Have a lot of it.

Re: Algebra word problems

I do not know much about anything. But I like to try.

Day was awful and good at the same time. Went shopping and now I am very tired. Eating and watching a movie.

Re: Algebra word problems

It sounds good. I have never seen it. No time for TV. I disconnected the cable when I went back to school a couple of yrs. ago. I had to concentrate. LOL

Want to try this one:
In triangle ABC, angles A and B have the same measure, while the measure of angle C is 9 degrees less than the measure of either. What are the measures of the three angles?
Angles A and B measure____degrees each.
Angle C measures ____degrees.

Re: Algebra word problems

A = 63°

B = 63°

C = 54°

Re: Algebra word problems

Thank you.
Ya know this is kinda easy, bet it gets more challenging and the easy ones are first.

Two angles are supplementary. One is 30 degrees more than four times the other. Find the measures of the angles. (Supplementary angles are angles whose sum is 180*).
What is the measure of the smaller angle?
___degree sign.

Re: Algebra word problems

it wants to know what the measure of the other angle is. Just subtract this one from 180*?

Re: Algebra word problems

That would be 150. That is not the smaller angle. 30 is the smaller angle. Are you using the ° ?

Re: Algebra word problems

The 2 angles are 30° and 150°. So 30° is the smaller.

Re: Algebra word problems

Yes, it was correct too. I may have had this in high school, but not in college. I never thought of algebra with this.

Can you work this one without seeing the picture?
Find the measure of each angle.
13x + 4 + = ______.*
7x + 6 =____*
(* is degrees)
Edited to add, it's two right angles.

Re: Algebra word problems

They were both correct.
I'll edit this from making another post.

I am working on math and writing an argumentative essay tonight. It's kinda sorta interesting if you follow the news. I asked my instructor what she wanted to read, since she is different and doesn't like research/data types of papers. She's more into "different." I have not figured her out. This morning for class, she showed us an explicit movie that offended some. I don't know why she did that and even if it's allowed. One kid was about 18 and put his head down on the desk, so as not to watch it. I kinda felt sorry for him.

But anyway, she told me to write about someone in the apparel business who's being sued. The more I read about it to finish up the paper, the more I think the women are suing him only for money and not what they accused him of.

Re: Algebra word problems

Hi survival;

How explicit? Explicit about what?

No, I am afraid I cannot solve either of those two problems without seeing the drawing.
