Project Montauk- The time experiment
In 1943, US Navy launched an experiment near Philadelphia, in which a battle ship with the crew, became invisible due to a special electro-magnetic field. The ship not only disappeared, but reappeared in a different place and a different day, and the crew has gone mad as well.
This is a REAL time travel case, not a fiction!

It was a destroyer not a battleship. Some of the crew went mad, some died during the experiment. The name of the experiment is the name of that city you mention. The place you are referring to in the title is a supposedly secret base on the extreme eastern part of Long Island.
This is a REAL time travel case, not a fiction!
Depending on what side you are on and where you live, some will say true and some will say what they have to.
