2009 cross-number puzzle
Happy new year!
If you fancy a challenge, have a go at this puzzle and let me know what you think. There are plenty more mathematically-based puzzles on my site to try if you wish.

Phew! That took quite a while to solve. I started rather well, but it got extremely nasty and tricky towards the end.

If it's any consolation, it took me considerably longer to construct that puzzle than it took you to solve! It's definitely one of the trickier ones.
Anybody else had a go?

Oh, wow.
Last time I checked your site, you had about 7 Maelstroms up, and now you've more than doubled that! I'm going to be kept busy for a while. 
Edit: Just finished the 2009 puzzle. I struggled at some points, but was never stuck on anything for more than a few minutes.
Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.
