Hi phrontister;
Your 4563 was the best one yet. Sorry you deleted it. Really clever!

I checked your two biggies, Bobby, and (would you believe) they're both right. Just thought I'd let you know.
Btw, how did you work them out?

Hi Bobby,
Since posting those long lines in our posts my browser's right-hand margin has widened to way beyond the edge...both in IE & Firefox. For you too?

Pages 14 & 15 have that problem, but not p13. P16 will probably be ok.

Hi Bobby,
I factorized the long number in my post #361 so that it now isn't too hopelessly long for the page. I tried it with yours, and although my factorizing program is still busily working at it, it looks like it may only reduce to 3 small factors (2^8, 13^2 & 38993^2), plus one huge one.

Hi phrontister;
That was a 200 digit number! Be careful, although all programs provide a factor integer command, this is extremely misleading.
Factoring is a difficult problem. After say 50 - 70 digits or so it could take a very long time.
For a 200 digit number it could take billions of years. We do not even know whether a fast way to factor exists.

Hi Bobby,
My factorization program's progress bar virtually didn't move - if at all - overnight and I turned it off this morning. Now I'll never know how many billions of years it would have taken to complete the task!
