Random Words

You ever feel like shouting out a word that has nothing to do with anything around you in class? In a supermarket? At the dinner table?
Well i do...often, but i'm running low on words, any suggestions?
Plus some random words are said to often and are no longer random such as: cheese, purple etc. <<< i call these randless!
Now some people hate the word random as it is useless and i do sometimes but at the moment i need it!
Please post replys!

Re: Random Words

You should try the WitWords website.
It is a fictionary, which means it contains lots of made up words. They sound really random, if that's what you're looking for.

Re: Random Words

Antidisestablishmentarianism is popularly quoted as being a very long word and it is longer than justlooking's, but I wasn't sure if it was real. I found a website that not only said it was real, but also gave us this beauty:

Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis (a miners' lung disease caused by inhaling silica)

It also had the name of a random molecule, which was 1,913 letters long.

It doubles the fun if you are on holiday and you yell out a random word in the language of where you are.
eg. Next time you are in Spain, wait until lots of people are trapped in a lift with you and yell "algodon!", which is Spanish for cotton. Bonus points if you manage to convey inquisitiveness or some other obscure emotion.

Re: Random Words

LOL..
It is way to early for me to be laughing that hard...
I am going to learn how to say cotton in every language...that is a great idea...
also, that joke is absolutely freakin hilarious...right up my alley

My word is actually longer (29 letters). Yours only has 28.

But there are even longer (and weirder words) here.

Wow. That was stupid. I must have miscounted or something.

Re: Random Words

As a reply to JustLooking and Mathsys, your words are actually all longest in their respect.

Antidisestablishmentarianism is the longest non-coined non-technical word
Floccinaucinihilipilification is the longest non-technical coined word
Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis (my favorite) is the longest technical word to be placed in a dictionary(Merriam Websters).

However, the longest technical word ever actually has aproximately 190 000 letters (189,819 to be exact). The only thing I came up on about it is Methionylthreonylthreonyl...isoleucine (mind the ellipsis)

For the wacky words, I'd recommend the four of Dumbledore:
Nitwit
Blubber
Oddment
Tweak
(though not random, they are weird!)
