Hi Everyone!
Happy New Year 2011...:)
I would like to Start this Year off with a Disturbing Thought!
Is It Possible To Calculate The End of The Earth's Existence!?
If it is possible can you imagine living in the future knowing when this will happen to the Day? And trying to carry on living as normal.
Would people still pay their life insurance?,Would people bother getting married?,Would people still turn up for work?,Would people take their own life earlier than the predicted Day?,and possibly the most disturbing...Would people bother to have any more Children?
If there are any Knowledgeable people on this site that might have an idea on How To Calculate The End of The Earth's Existence!? I am sure? That as Disturbing as the Answer might be...us Humans I think just could not resist knowing the Answer!

Hi GeniusIsBack;
Welcome to the forum. The exact day? Science is way too imprecise of a study to pin it down to an exact day. There is an exact date and there have been exact dates in the past too.
In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.

Due to natures fractalic behaviour, a complete determination of when the earth go bam cannot be done. I think.
I see clearly now, the universe have the black dots, Thus I am on my way of inventing this remedy...

If there are any Knowledgeable people on this site which is the Opposite to your Quote:
That might be or perhaps you did not understand it.
Also LQ agrees with me. That is enough for me.

I have heard that it is spelled Maam.
It is like chess. You really do not know what the end of the game will look like. Sure you can look a few moves ahead and a computer can look a few more but...

Like, BAM, like in cartoons.

I am here. I am predicting June 17 2013 at 12.03 pm. Pacific time of course.

Good point! But what has a prediction like that have to do with science? Surely you have heard of 2012. If you are after a bunch of differential equations that end up with some date, that is not possible.
Even global warming has much dissent among top scientists.

I saw this program about natural fractals though. I'm sure a higher entity with enough time could predict the end of the world more and more accurate.
Perhaps nostrodamus was trying this when he made his predictions.
Perhaps you should focus on the art of reading tea leaves, GiB. I don't have the same inclination of knowing everything.

Hi all;
Very well put LQ. I think it was the great Laplace that said if you knew the initial conditions of everything exactly as God does then predicting the future right to the end would just be a matter of doing the sums.

Well, being a god, allthough a young one, I strive for a simple life, with loads of fun rather then a difficult life with hard predictions. I usually tend to pinpoint the accurate date in my mind, allthough this has failed several times. I speculate rather then predict.

Chess Computers don't know everything! to Calculate to the end of the Game Tree...but they know enough to beat the World Chess Champion Etc. So let's try to get some where near the possible Day when the Earth Ceases to Exist!

That is not totally true. Gary split his last match. Anand lost on a silly mistake and there is a guy, he is just a patzer really but he has a great knack against them. He plays his own developed system which he calls "Anti Computer chess."
To tell you the truth I have a whole folder full of drawn and won games against many of the engines and I am also just a patzer.
