My friend was meditating today. He was thinking of a lamp on his head and then he suddenly felt a breathing trouble. Can you tell me why?
I do not know the answer!
'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.'
'God exists because Mathematics is consistent, and the devil exists because we cannot prove it'
I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

Hi Agnishom;
I do not know either. I have never heard of that. Meditation as I understand it produces an extreme calmness and clarity. Physiologically, breath rate, heart rate, BP all go down. This is due to side effect of extreme relaxation. Many people fall asleep at that. point.
In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.

Meditation, the technique of focusing the mind while deepening the breath, is a popular practice for people who suffer from stress or anxiety. Learning to breathe properly during meditation is an essential step in attaining the beneficial effects of meditation, which include tranquility, peace, restfulness and reduction of stress. Close your eyes. Let any stray thoughts in your mind trickle to their natural end. Then, concentrate on nothingness.
Have a great meditation...

i think some light exercise like yoga can give a better breathing capacity.....

because his mind stays in the top energy center
Typically this mistake happens in Tibetan or Hindu style meditation.
Basically you should never put you mind inside your brain at the beginning. When the energy fails to come down your brain might be burned. That is why Taoist meditation focuses at the abadom, the energy center of kidney, just to prevent such mistakes.
I can tell you an easy way to meditate. It is a Zen style.
Just slightly touch thumb to middle finger on both hands, lay them on your knees.
Thumb links to the top center, the brain
Middle finger links to the middle center, the heart
And knee links to the low center, the kidney
This gesture helps you unite them and regain energy,
but do not think of anything.

How do you just think of nothing? I find that extremely difficult.
Which may be linked to my low breath capacity... I've been told to focus on breathing deeply but then that leaves me out of sync with my breathing rate compared to my thoughts.

I end up thinking about not thinking.
Sometimes music can help you "tune out".
And I read somewhere about a guy who said down hill skiing was good for meditation, because there is no time to think about anything else.

George's technique sounds a lot like hatha yoga.
There are more techniques then there are people. Thinking is the thing you are trying to shut down. Some people try the idea of focusing on one thing first. Their breath, a sound, the cavern inside their own head. Deep concentration like that shuts down the senses and the internal minutiae. Now comes the hard part, making that last focal point of concentration disappear. Like closing your eyes shuts off vision. Now your mind is like a still lake. Few people can achieve it. But everyone can get the benefits from even getting close for a brief second.
The breath during these times is slow and rhythmic. Some people use deep breaths to produce a kind of falling away effect. Others use a bright light in the center of their forehead or an ever decreasing circle around them. You tune in by tuning out.
In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.

Uh it is surprising to find so many mathematicians practice meditation!
