He meant the beginning of the chapter was easy to grasp and now it's so tough.

I get it. That happens to me too. Sometimes I start well but it stiffens up halfway through and I can not go any further.

Yes, happens to me too. I think everyone encounters such a situation sometimes!

Time for me to Zzz, see you tomorrow.

Re: Is this cool with you?

New problem:

There are 6 regular coffees, 5 cups of green tea, 4 cans of cream soda, 3 cups of hot cocoa on the table. A, B, C, D approach the table and each person takes one and only one drink. While they are talking E comes up and takes one too. She mentions that it is an interesting problem, how many ways could they pick a drink each?

A says)

B says) That is not right it is...
C says) Hold on B, A is right, what else could it be?
D says) Agreed!
E says) A is not correct, I will bet the B is a lot closer.

How many ways are there?

If you guess at it and get it right give yourself 100. If you count em up with a computer give yourself 80, If you have an analytical answer give yourself 110. If you get it wrong major in topology instead.

Teach a man how-to gf, and he will stay happy counting forever!

I wonder how they imagined C(18,5)?!

We will discuss it my "tomorrow", see you!

Re: Is this cool with you?

Hi bobbym,

I thought I would get a 80.

Did the guy who got 1387 correct his counting?
Isn't it surprising that so few people are aware of gf?

Re: Is this cool with you?

Hi gAr;

Yes it is. They always run to casework like they have been taught. GF's do not get taught until they are a graduate student.

The guy with the 1367 never got an answer. He used casework.

Re: Is this cool with you?

Did you tell that guy the way? He may never look back again!
Calculus and GF must be made a part of high school curriculum. You see, I was never interested in mathematics when I was in school, though not bad at it either.

Later, I was stunned to see calculus in action. That is what I call mathematics!

Check out the new problem on series. Using a GF, as easy as pie!

Usually I would of course but I do not like that forum.

That is a plus for you, school is not the place to learn mathematics.

I was interested in math when I was in school. I just would not do it their way. Liked working on it by myself. I did not think what they thought was important, really was! I still do not. Yes, I was crazy even as a child.

Cool sum, will use either the snake oil or WZ pair on it.

Okay, then blind leadeth the blind !

Yes, school is not a place to learn anything. They never know what's interesting and what's not.

Oh, I can't believe haven't read those yet! Maybe the reason was that I wasn't able to follow somehere between.

Hi bobbym,

I have AeqB also, but not read it yet.

WZ pairs is there in generatingfunctionology too.

Yes, it is! I do not think a person like myself can ever get totally through books like those. I just get pieces at a time.

Me neither!
I'll have to read the parts that I left out.

Re: Is this cool with you?

New problem:

A tub has 3 taps and 2 drains. Tap A can fill it in 30 minutes. Tap B can fill the tub in 20 minutes. Tap C can fill the tub in 18 minutes. Drain D can empty the tub in 7 minutes. Drain E can empty the tub in 2 minutes.

A comes along and opens all 3 taps to fill the tub. All the drains are closed. A thinks it will take 7.2 minutes to fill the tub. He comes back later and to his surprise the tub is only half filled. A immediately accuses B of opening one or more of the drains. B says he did not but E says she did open 2 drains but not at the same time. How long were each drain open? Or is E lying?
