Sorry it was some time ago.  I've been busy elsewhere.

Summary:

male, picture is back and white (looks like background is a workshop but resolution is poor), alive today, not American, has lived in many countries.

occupation is good for society not harmful, does not produce tangible objects, not connected with computers,

Indoor activity, when working there are always others but works alone mostly (can be part of a group), mostly self employed, full time occupation for whole of his life.

He is not an actor or singer, but what he does falls under the entertainment heading.
He is a national hero.  It is considered a sport, an active player and sometimes an official, very good at it, not music, not media, paid money and perks,

Often on TV, it is one of the most popular things in the world, no ball, some age groups may not know who he is, Clue: Someone who comes in here should know who he is.

(6)  When doing this 'sport', is strength a necessary attribute for him?

try to isolate ones that are played and that can be played as an official sports.

i also forgot to mention that i saw in that B&W pic something that looks like a thingy that stands in a museum to prevent you from touching the artifacts and stuff.look at the pic i attached.
