Hi everyone,
I happened across this forum while looking for info on LATEX. I'm studying to be an actuary (career change) and I've found it necessary to be as clear and specific as possible when asking questions. Until about a year ago I've had almost no knowledge of mathematics. I've been diligently studying in my free time starting with basic arithmetic, then algebra, calculus and finally the probability and statistics that I'm going to need. Because I've gone through all of this in such a relatively short amount of time there are some gaps in my understanding of these subjects. I'm excited to find this general Math forum so that I can have some answers to some general math questions!
On a personal level I graduated from college in 2007 (business major). I work for an insurance company and I live near the beach in San Diego, CA. I'd imagine I'll be a heavy presence on here for some time through my exam process

Hi William F;

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
