I actually never introduced myself

Hello. I am 17 years old, live for the moment in Belgium, I am from Russia and have lived in many places in the world. I'm still in high school, when I'll finish it I will study at a maritime academy and (hopefully) become a maritime officer.
I have some problems with maths, as I calculate quite slowly in my head. Therefore I am more busy with logic and philosophy. However, I do my best to understand mathematics, and dedicate time to it.

Re: I actually never introduced myself

Greetings, Chaotic Neutral! Welcome to Math Is Fun forums. To tell you the truth, my math isn't any better than yours. I'm quite slow at calculating and sometimes miss some parts in the process.

Anyway, I hope you can have your problems solved in this forums. I can't help you, but I'm sure the others are sure to be able to give a hand.

Last of all, enjoy posting and visit regularly. smile

Re: I actually never introduced myself

Some brilliant mathematicians have been "slow".

One (and I have forgotten his name) was failing at school, then one day there was a test just before lunch. The teacher noticed the boy was only half finished, but had done a good job so far, so he let him continue through the lunch break, and the boy aced the test!

From then on the teacher let the boy have more time, and the boy grew up to be one of the best mathematical thinkers of his time.

Maybe ganesh knows the story better, and can remember his name.

So, I guess it is a bit like art. Nobody says "Rembrandt was slow", or even "Monet made mistakes".

You've read my posts. Worth continuing?

I can't understand that other language used there, but I do comprehend with MathIsFun's story.

Too bad nowadays, there isn't enough time to finish maths exam papers.

Of course. smile

Mathematics is a broad subject. You may prefer Stats, Calculus, Numerical Methods, Matrices, Logic, Geometry, ... or you may create new ground.

And for VR-that's phonetic Russian. I think you can't translate it with simple translator.

So I'll use it:
Menja zovut Krasimir.
U menaj iestь kirilitsy. smile
Ja zabuival padeжnii syfiksi.

Our languages are very близки. Here's something in Български:

And for Mathsy-I love the last, but first I have to pass by all other subjects.

Re: I actually never introduced myself

Starting a new ground... Sounds like something for me, you know I'm not so content with the word random and would like to see a more precise probability calculation system.
As with social mechanics, I would like to see a precise way of calculating.
My background (I will not say which one) allowed me to make very few mistakes, and that was the way I learned to think right, and later I figured out it was the mathematical way of thinking. Now I've quit the old lifestyle, studying in school, but the way of thinking remains.

As for krassi_holmz: V Rossije zima ochen holodnaja. Ja iz Murmanska, tam zimoj -40
V Belgie zimy potchti net. Tut shas +2.

I am sorry, I don't. However, I can tellyou a story about lbert Eintein. When he was at High School, his dad met the Headmaster of the school to discuss what subjects Eintein should be put into. The Headmaster replied saying Albert could be put in any subject. Anyhow, he wasn't going to fare well!
