Binary Converter - Leading Zeros

Here is a TEST version of the Binary/Decimal/Hexadecimal Converter

I have added a button (top left) which formats the binary with leading zeros (and fractional part with trailing zeros) ... 4 at a time to match a hex digit.

What do you think? Can you throw different examples at it to see if it works fine (before I make it live).

hi MathsIsFun

Yes, that works ok for me.

The leading/trailing zeros feature is really good.  Any chance of a small gap between each group of 4 to make it easier to read?

Re: Binary Converter - Leading Zeros

Hi MathsIsFun,

The Binary/Decimal/Hexadecimal Converter works fine for me too!

I checked the Base 2/10/16 numbers 1, 11, 111, 1111 and found correct.

Hi;

Worked well here. Could use larger input boxes.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.

Re: Binary Converter - Leading Zeros

Thanks!  Works great!  Handles enough digits to do my bank account in binary smile

How hard would it be to allow the user to input a base of their own choosing?

Have a great day!

Writing "pretty" math (two dimensional) is easier to read and grasp than LaTex (one dimensional).
LaTex is like painting on many strips of paper and then stacking them to see what picture they make.

Re: Binary Converter - Leading Zeros

Seems pretty good to me. I think it might be a good idea to restrict the range of the numbers so they always fit properly in their boxes. Other than that I can't complain.

Just out of curiosity, why haven't you written this in JS/HTML instead of flash? (I'm not suggesting that you do, I'm just curious).

muxdemux: I simply love programming in Actionscript 3. It is responsive, reliable and each app is self-contained, so library changes don't impact on other live apps.

Glad you all approve, I have made it the live version now.

Hi MIF

How did you learn to write in ActionScript?

I downloaded FlashDevelop and got stuck into it (plus lots of Googling).
