I've been here about three months, but....

I never said "hello".  I just wanted to shed a little light on myself apart from my normal posts around here.  Ususally, I try to stay on topic within the forum and this seems like the only place to break away from that mold.

I have thoroughly enjoyed participating in this forum so far and look forward to many more mind sparking problems.  I would also like to mention that the company here is, in my humble opinion after being on the internet pretty much since its inception, far and away more welcoming and intelligent than anywhere I have been yet.

Listing the names of all the people here who have contributed to my happiness with this site would be redundant, as I can say plainly that everyone I have encountered so far is deserving of my appreciation.

A (very) little about myself.  This is the internet after all.  My real name is Tom.  The irspow is my long-time, circa 1992?, internet name.  It is my little, but legal, sneer of defiance, towards what I interperet as unconstitutional as well as immoral, socialistic redistribution of wealth that occurs in the United States.  Hence,  Internal Revenue Service's Prisoner of War, irspow.  I'm basically, a libertarian of sorts, so I have a lot of problems with society in general, and all governments in particular.  Whatever.... this isn't a political forum, but I thought that by understanding my "name" others would gain a little insight into my personality.

Sometimes I may come off as a little (or a lot) argumentative, though I purposely try not to.  On these occasions, I usually am trying to spark an idea in someone's mind for one reason or another.  So if the "tone" of one of my posts strikes you as aggressive in nature, rest assured, it was not meant in that spirit in the slightest way.  Like I said earlier here, I truly enjoy the interaction with everyone here.

I am thirty-four year old, although I feel a lot older.  I suppose because I left home at an early age.  I am a (blush, blush) plumber by trade.  I went to college for mechanical engineering, but was able to make a higher income at the time in my current trade. (Sad is it not?)  Although, I am not patriotic, I served a term in my country's military in an air assault unit.  (Stupid and young, I guess.)

Before this becomes my abridged autobiography, I would like close by saying that I like math very much, but that I like it more than I am proficient with it.  I'm more into the physical sciences, but math is an integral tool for applying them in the world.  I try my best to help those who want it and, as many of you know, I am more than seldom incorrect.  I just like to dive into problems and see if I can solve them.  I like being corrected, as this is the best way of learning the proper solution.  This way I can see the error in my logic. (or lack thereof)

If I've left out anything that you may be curious about, feel free to ask.  I will answer anything, within reason, as soon as I can.  Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not exclusively applaud MathsIsFun for setting up this forum.  To you sir, congratulations on a job well done.  This site is, in my experience, head and shoulders above the others of similar nature that I have encountered.  You have conducted yourself in a personable and proffessional manner not necessarily required, and for that, again you deserve praise.  Thank you for having me.

What's more American than taxes? I am! I am! I am! (Sing it with me!)

Sorry...I suppose posting early in the morning (8:40 is early to me) is the same as late at night.

Aha! I saw your name had IRS in it. I thought the rest might be *pow!* ...

A really good introduction, and thanks for the compliments smile, but I just keep the engine running, you guys do all the driving.

Glad to have you on board!

*POW*! would be great, but sadly, the last thing that I could ever do.  I wish to live a little while longer regardless of the regime to which I am enslaved.
