Proof

If someone were to write all the proofs in mathematics(logic, sets, numbers, geometry, groups etc)then what should he write first (as a proof is constructed on other proofs) ? What i mean is what is the absolutely first proof/proposition ?

Re: Proof

hi

Personally, I don't think there is a first proof.  A mathematical topic may be self contained and not require anything from other areas of maths.  There have been attempts to answer this question using set theory and logic.  A good place to start would be

There's enough starting points there to keep you busy for a few years smile

Re: Proof

So, you are saying these basic concepts are independent?

Re: Proof

I think all the basic concepts are dependent on one another......

Jake is Alice's father, Jake is the ________ of Alice's father?
Why is T called island letter?
think, think, think and don't get up with a solution...

Re: Proof

Every concept has a starting proposition,to prove this proposition you cannot use the concept since it doesn't have anything yet, after thinking a bit i saw that these starting propositions are proved using logical methods, that means every concept depends on logic.

Re: Proof

You mean concept and logic both are dependent on each other.......

Re: Proof

I mean, lots of concepts depend on logic,i don't know if logic depends on other concepts

Re: Proof

If logic is the first concept, then the first proposition is of logic(even this assumption is made by logic)
