Winter Olympics 2006

Isn't it Cool (literally and figuratively)? Go Torino!

Did you all enjoy the opening ceremony? Cows, a Ferrari, people with balloons on their head, and guys with flames wafting down their backs. Odd but very stylish too.

But I couldn't help laughing when they announced each country in three languages, even when it was the same name. ("Costa Rica" "Costa Rica!" "Costa Rica!!!")

Re: Winter Olympics 2006

I loved the ski jumper. It was the most amazing bit of coordinated choreography I've ever seen.

I always quit when the countries start coming out, though. So. Boring. Did they do anything after that?

Re: Winter Olympics 2006

And she ended up winning silver!

I find all of the events in the Winter Olympics so... extreme. Everything is to do with speed, the most elaborate jump, or getting down a mountain!

On the other hand, that's what makes it so fun to watch. smile

I agree ... I couldn't believe what Zhang did. I thought "good on her for going back out" but didn't expect she would get a medal. Amazing stuff.

Re: Winter Olympics 2006

I have also been enjoying the skiing, snowboarding, and skating.  Really good stuff!  Can anyone watch it as it is going on?  NBC TV station is showing many hours after it really happened.  By the way, what Torino time do they start each day?
