Travelling puzzle

"All right now, Alfred, pay attention! I'll repeat the puzzle one more time.
'As I was going to St.Ives,
I met a man with seven wives,
Each wife had seven sacks,
Each sack had seven cats,
Each cat had seven kits;
Kits, cats, sacks, and wives,
How many were there going to St. Ives?'

It's really not very hard if you give it a little thought."

It appears to me that if one wants to make progress in mathematics, one should study the masters and not the pupils. - Niels Henrik Abel.

Nothing is better than reading and gaining more and more knowledge - Stephen William Hawking.

The greatest challenge to any thinker is stating the problem in a way that will allow a solution.

Re: Travelling puzzle

No kits, cats, sacks nor any wives were going to St. Ives.

Boy let me tell you what:
I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a fiddle player too.
And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.
