If everybody is jumping off a cliff, there must be a good reason to do it.

And, besides, many people would agree to the quote from gAr's signature.

Re: Ixquick

Unless gAr changed his signature since the last time I saw him, it never mentions jumping off any cliffs.

If everybody is jumping off a cliff, there must be a good reason to do it.

I could not disagree more.

I am talking about the quote from Buddha.

Why do you disagree?

Re: Ixquick

Because I feel the majority is almost always wrong! If you are "following the crowd," then you have become just that, a follower. Looks like the great men were leaders, not followers.

Please remember, the "you" is generic. It means all of us that get caught in the net of mediocrity.

I also think that the Feynman technique applies to things outside of math.

Re: Ixquick

I think that it is a bad metaphor. If people were jumping off a cliff, it would almost certainly be because of some danger.

Re: Ixquick

People have been known to jump off things in response to no danger at all. Also, this has happened en masse.

Re: Ixquick

What are you going to do by being hidden from a search engine company? The ISP will see everything, so will the CBI, NSA, FBI.

I suspect Mr A. is thinking along the lines of cryptography to deal with that.

Re: Ixquick

HTTPS will do it. If required, we should used options like the The Onion Router

Re: Ixquick

well, search engines sell our information for there profit but this way they also get to know our preferences. For ex. each time we click on a link, the results we get the next time is somewhat based on that(if you notice it closely you will find it). Also now many search engines like Google use https which prevents  our privacy a lot. Even in the adds that appear on various websites, you will find that if you click on one,the next time you open that website there will be adds on similar products. This is all based on the browser-server interaction. So that means we are nowhere safe as per perfect privacy is concerned!!!!!

First we must get Agnishom to describe the Onion Router.

Re: Ixquick

I cannot describe it. Neither can I guarantee that it works. I know nothing about those onions.

It meant that man is really smart. So you see we have a rich heritage of onion wisdom.

Re: Ixquick

Only if you're very very cautious about what you're doing.

Recently, some agency has shown that it is possible to reveal the real IPs of the people using the onion router by injecting malwares into plugins like flash
