Interesting Conversation

Science Teacher wrote:

Boy, who are you?

Nerd wrote:

What scale would you like me to answer in?

Science Teacher wrote:

Okay, answer in the C scale.

Nerd wrote:

Not a musical scale. In what order of magnitude or dimension would you want to answer me?

Science Teacher wrote:

I do not understand. Give me an example.

Nerd wrote:

If you woud want me to answer in the Scale of this school, I would say I am <name> <surname> studying in Class X and as everyone knows. But again, imagine, the universe scale. That way, I am no one. The universe has come out of nothingness, so I do not even exist. How may I have a name?

Re: Interesting Conversation

By the way, do not judge the conversation by its correctness. Imagine how you would feel if you were the science teacher and that would be the response to your question.

Re: Interesting Conversation

Then what was there before the bang?

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Circular patterns within the cosmic microwave background suggest that space and time did not come into being at the Big Bang but that our universe in fact continually cycles through a series of "aeons". That is the sensational claim being made by University of Oxford theoretical physicist Roger Penrose, who says that data collected by NASA's WMAP satellite support his idea of "conformal cyclic cosmology". This claim is bound to prove controversial, however, because it opposes the widely accepted inflationary model of cosmology.

This is the view of Roger Penrose the discoverer. Of course he ia a little late, the Hindu's knew that each universe is just a single breath or a single night-day of the Brahma, created and destroyed forever.

Carl Sagan wrote:

It is the only religion in which the time scales correspond, no doubt, by accident, to those of modern scientific cosmology. Its cycles run from our ordinary day and night to a day and night of Brahma 8.64 billion years long. Longer than the age of the earth or the sun and about half of the time since the big bang. And there are much longer time scales still.

There is the deep and the appealing notion that the universe is but the dream of the god who after a 100 Brahma years… dissolves himself into a dreamless sleep… and the universe dissolves with him… until after another Brahma century… he starts… recomposes himself and begins again the dream… the great cosmic lotus dream.

Aren't the existence of both of those a perception of the human brain?

Re: Interesting Conversation

Nope, there was a universe before humans and there will be many after them.

Carl's second paragraph is the common belief for thousands of years in the eastern cultures. Soon, modern Cosmology with the help of their friends will catch up to what the ancients knew thousands of years ago with the help of their friends.

I've heard of that one. But those things should not be interpreted literally.

Re: Interesting Conversation

Why not? Do we really know? And how does it effect our daily life because we are right or wrong about Big Bang?

It doesn't.

We really do not know but the people who gave those theories long ago were power greedy and wanted to manipulate the people because they were stupid. Todays theories may not be correct but are definitely better because we know why they have come.

That way of thinking seems like reductio ad Hitlerum.

If I were the science teacher ( ghastly thought ) I would answer the student with post #5. Or maybe, the story of the grasshopper at the boy's feet...

Re: Interesting Conversation

That story with the backtrack quote?

Maybe, this is a good reason why our school should not appoint you as a Science Teacher

Re: Interesting Conversation

The backtrack quote?

Yes, your school is wise not to appoint me to do anything. I am a difficult employee. I have difficulty relating to younger people. Some are intimidated and call me sir, this is annoying. Others call me gramps, which makes me violent. Others try to mug me which also makes me violent.

Re: Interesting Conversation

What is the grasshopper story?

You still do not understand why the conversation is interesting or humorous. My dad is the only person who understands most of what I'm trying to convey(Mom doesn't). But again, he could not get the point of it.
I'll try to tell it to two more people...

Since this point has been dealt with,

but is not what you want then can you describe what you are asking so I can understand it?
