Re: Pi Day

Its 8:17 PM here. Pi day starts in 3 hours and 43 minutes. What time zones are you all from?

Is it blasphemous to eat pie to celebrate pi day? Its pi day, not pie day :-/

Re: Pi Day

And in honor of the occasion, here is pi to 100 digits:

3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510
58209749445923078164062862089986280348253421170679

For those who don't know, pi day is celebrated by math geeks (such as ourselves) all over the globe. It is called pi day not becuase its the day pi was discovered, its because the date is 3/14

In nine years we should have a HUGE celebration on pi day, 2015. The date will be 3/14/15 that happens once a century! We'll be lucky to see it!

So I can't say "Merry Christmas" until the 25th of December?

And while I am on the subject, when can I say "Happy Easter"?

Re: Pi Day

Ooh, while we're at it, we can do the Pi dance! Done by maths geeks everywhere.

All you do is type in pi with your feet on a huge imaginary calculator. Fun nonetheless. ^_^

Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.

Btw, I was supposed to be having a party today to celebrate both pi day and completion of calculus, but sadly I haven't been feeling so well the last couple days, so its postponed untill I'm feeling better.

Re: Pi Day

Is it just me or is the normal banner that replaced the Pi Day banner more grey than usual? smile

Re: Pi Day

Well done, Tigeree! March 14 is indeed the birthday of Einstein!

And yes, jl, that is an older "nothing to say" banner. What's next?
