Re: 2006 Commonwealth Games

Well, Jersey hasn't won any medals yet. But we will.

Also, as we're so close to England, we can support England as well, so we're second!!!

Re: 2006 Commonwealth Games

India was No 4 at the Manchester Games in 02, with 30 Gold Medals, just behind Canada's 31 Golds.

My guess is that India's greatest passion is Movies, then Sport. Am I right, ganesh?

Re: 2006 Commonwealth Games

Absolutely right, MathsIsFun!
More films are made in India than the rest of the world.
The Hollywood of India is at Mumbai (Hindi) and Chennai (Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada) along with Kolkata (Bangali).
Tamil films are watched in many parts of the world like Malaysia, Srilanka, Singapore, South Africa,Canada, Denmark, Germany, France, Fiji, Australia, Mauritius, Maldives etc. Tamil films have produced international standard composers like Illayaraja and A R Rahman.
I am sure, slowly, india will start faring much better in sports other than cricket too! India has always been a very good team in hockey. India has also produced world-class players in badminton, billiards, snooker and chess. Vijay Amritraj, Ramesh Krishnan earlier, and now, Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi, Sania Mirza have shown the world our credentials in Tennis. I may sound too optimistic, but maybe, we may head the medals tally in the Commonwealth games in 2010 AD! smile
