Re: Teach David

Yes, just enter x = 2 and then after that y = 6 as Agnishom suggests.

Re: Teach David

I am sorry, it is y = 2 and x = 6, so please erase those lines and enter the new two.

Very good, you learn fast, Now at the intersection of the two perpendicular lines put a point.

Re: Teach David

Notice the the 3 points form a right triangle. Use the polygon tool and connect all three points and a triangle will form.

Re: Teach David

Hi Chris;

Can you guess using your geometry knowledge the lengths of the legs of the right triangle?

Re: Teach David

That is correct, notice that the distance between the two points we want is the hypotenuse of the right triangle. Know how to find the hypotenuse?

Re: Teach David

That is correct but did you draw the triangle before you did the algebra?

Re: Teach David

Yes, he did it in his head.

Suppose you have two points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2).

Do you agree that the vertical distance between them is |y2-y1| and the horizontal distance between them is |x2 - x1|?

Re: Teach David

Just for your information look in the algebra pane in gebra and you see that answer done for you.

I need this in M. And what are we suppose to do in Gebra now? Sorry about the thing being full size O.O

If you have the triangle then the answer is already computed for you in gebra.
