You can interpret it as a refference to The Matrix. Your conciousness is stuck in the Matrix of this universe.

There is a concept in Hinduism/Eastern Philosophy that states that the world is a dream. All you see and reason here is illusion, true reality is Brahman. Although Brahman is sort of a God, this concept of God isn't the same as an active God like that of Christianism.

The same concept is often portrayed with Vishnu as the dreamer but it essentially means the same thing.
