Hi bobbym,

PS : Muscular dystrophy (MD) is a group of muscle diseases that weaken the musculoskeletal system and hamper locomotion.  Muscular dystrophies are characterized by progressive skeletal muscle weakness, defects in muscle proteins, and the death of muscle cells and tissue.

Good attempt, bobbym!

Sphenopalatine artery (terminal branch of the maxillary artery);
Greater palatine artery (from the maxillary artery) and
Septal branch of the superior labial artery (from the facial artery).

Hi bobbym,

#701. Name the medical term / phrase : (Also known as Brinton's disease or leather bottle stomach) : It is a morphological variant of diffuse (or infiltrating) stomach cancer. Causes of it could be lye ingestion or metastatic infiltration of the stomach, particularly breast and lung carcinoma. It is not associated with H. pylori infection or chronic gastritis. The risk factors are undefined, except for rare inherited mutations in E-cadherin, which are found in about 50% of diffuse-type gastric carcinomas. This cancer (and most other stomach cancers) is more common in Asian countries, particularly Japan.

Hi bobbym,

#703. Name the medical term / phrase : (Also known as nosebleed) It is the relatively common occurrence of hemorrhage from the nose, usually noticed when the blood drains out through the nostrils. There are two types: anterior (the most common), and posterior (less common, more likely to require medical attention). Sometimes in more severe cases, the blood can come up the nasolacrimal duct and out from the eye. Fresh blood and clotted blood can also flow down into the stomach and cause nausea and vomiting.

Re: Doc, Doc!

Hi bobbym,

#704. Name the medical term / phrase : A form of congenital heart disease whereby there is a complete absence of the tricuspid valve. Therefore, there is an absence of right atrioventricular connection. This leads to a hypoplastic (undersized) or absent right ventricle. This defect is contracted during prenatal development, when the heart does not finish developing. It causes the heart to be unable to properly oxygenate the rest of the blood in the body. Because of this, the body does not have enough oxygen to live, so other defects must occur to maintain blood flow.

#705. Name the medical term / phrase : A rare condition marked by the presence of desmoid tumors, which are benign, slow-growing musculoaponeurotic tumors without any metastatic potential.  Despite their benign nature, they can damage nearby structures causing organ dysfunction. Most cases are sporadic, but some are associated with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP). Approximately 10% of individuals with Gardner's syndrome, a type of FAP with extracolonic features, have desmoid tumors.

Hi bobbym,

#706. Name the medical term / phrase : The brachiocephalic artery (or brachiocephalic trunk)  is an artery of the mediastinum that supplies blood to the right arm and the head and neck. It is the first branch of the aortic arch, and soon after it emerges, the brachiocephalic artery divides into the right common carotid artery and the right subclavian artery. (There is no brachiocephalic artery for the left side of the body. The left common carotid, and the left subclavian artery, come directly off the aortic arch. However, there are two brachiocephalic veins.) By what name is it also known as?

Hi bobbym,

The Answer #707 is correct! Excellent!

#708. Name the medical term / phrase : (Also known as Lyell's syndrome) A rare, life-threatening skin condition that is usually caused by a reaction to drugs. The disease causes the top layer of skin (the epidermis) to detach from the lower layers of the skin (the dermis), all over the body, leaving the body susceptible to severe infection. The mortality rate ranges from 25-30%, and death usually occurs as a result of sepsis (a systemic inflammatory response to an infection) and subsequent multiorgan system failure. Treatment primarily involves discontinuing the use of causative agent(s), and supportive care in either the intensive care unit or burn unit of a hospital.
