I have seen one of them.
In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.

Do you know what a free radical is?
'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.'
'God exists because Mathematics is consistent, and the devil exists because we cannot prove it'
I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

I am familiar with the Holistic viewpoint only.

What is that?

Free radicals, also known simply as radicals, are organic molecules responsible for aging, tissue damage, and possibly some diseases. These molecules are very unstable, therefore they look to bond with other molecules, destroying their health and further continuing the damaging process.

Why do you call that the holistic viewpoint?

Because it is the most prevalent argument that people who follow Holistic medicine put forth. By the way, your people were the first humans to practice it.

That is correct but medicine is for chooipian.
A free radical is a species with an unpaired electron in its outer orbit.
The free radical is so upset about the unpaired electron that it always attacks someone else until it finds something to pair up with. This is in accord with your quote:
These molecules are very unstable, therefore they look to bond with other molecules, destroying their health and further continuing the damaging process.

Medicine, is for everyone. They say let us educate rather than medicate.

Fine. That is not a good excuse for overlooking the rest of the post, though.

I did look at the Chemistry definition.

Can you guess what happens when a free radical attacks another free radical?

Polymerization might occur.

It is not exactly called polymerization.
The two free radicals pair up their unpaired electrons and a bond is formed. The newer species is obviously not a free radical any more and is stable.
For example, Chlorine Atoms have seven electrons in their outer shell. So, it's 6 + 1.
Another Chlorine atom also has seven electrons.
When the Chlorine atoms hold hands, there are no resultant +1's

Correct!
The opposite thing is called homolytic cleavage. For example, you shine some light on Chlorine and this happens:
The little dots mean that they are free radicals.

That I know but why the sudden interest in Chemistry? Could it be that EVW was right?

I like chemistry in general. The only offputting things about it are the hard pen/paper calculations and rote memorizations.
Plus, organic chemistry is very elegant. Alokananda likes it too.
What did EVW say?

This is benzoyl peroxide.
The peroxo linking is not all that stable, so this happens
The benzoyl radical could then break up into a phenyl radical and inert carbon dioxide.

Yep. They also use it as a free radical initiator in several reactions.

We're not yet there.
Let's say there are some benzoyl peroxide molecules with a large number of ethene molecules. Do you know what ethene molecule looks like?
