Re: Problems with checkers

I can beat you all at checkers! That is, if I knew how to play well. Checkers, unlike chess, is stupid! big_smile

I bet you didn't know it, but I'm a fiddle player too.
And if you'd care to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.

Re: Problems with checkers

Chess is a game of logic and cunning-ness. Unlike Checkers where you move a piece there and they move the piece there and... OMG! They jump. There's little strategy in relation to chess.

Re: Problems with checkers

Every piece has its specialty:

Pawns go forward one step, but can go two the first time
Bishops go in diagonals (one or more steps)
Knights go 2-turn-1 (example: 2 steps forward, 1 to the left)
Castles go straight (not diagonal) (one or more steps)
The Queen can go straight or diagonal (one or more steps)
The King can go straight or diagonal, but only one step

You can never jump OVER a piece, except the Knight can, because he "jumps" like a horse.

You capture (take) a piece by landing ON it.

You win by capturing the King.
