A new page: Electricity

Please check it over for accuracy, etc!

Re: Electricity

Hi;

Looks good to me. I have yet to hear that crack undoubtedly because I have not yet experienced a really close strike. Fortunately or not, the amount of time I now spend in the forest suggests that I soon will.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.

Re: Electricity

I have read that if you are caught outdoors during lightning you should squat down, feet  together,  with head tucked in.

Re: Electricity

Hi;

That would certainly beat running around waving an 8 ft aluminum pole, screaming I am going to die.

But back to electricity when it is being friendly. I have heard that although the wave of polarization ( whatever that is ) travels through the wires from the battery to the ignition of a car at the speed of light. It might take an individual electron more than a month to make the trip due to innumerable collisions.

Re: Electricity

Hi MathsIsFun,

This page looks excellent to me.  Had to cover a physics lesson once, so, instead of copying from books, I got out the Van de Graaff generator.  The effect on washed, fine hair is 'shocking!'.

I should mention that!

But then you would have to trust the accuracy of one of my comments. A dangerous decision.
