I have a new chess program: Chess
It uses the "Garbochess" engine for the (very strong) computer player, but there is also Easy and Medium settings.
Could you let me know how it works for you and if there are any problems.
Also try to beat it, and let me know if I have Easy, Medium and Hard well chosen.

Hi MathsIsFun,
I am a below average chess player. I chose the setting 'Medium'. I was beaten in the 10th move!
The setting works perfectly well in my case.
The summary of the game: 1. Nc3 e5 2. e4 Nc6 3. g4 Bc5 4. f3 Qh4+ 5. Ke2 Nd4+ 6. Kd3 Nf6 7. Be2 O-O 8. b3 b6 9. a4 Ba6+ 10. Ke3 Nf5#
In my opinion, the program works remarkably well!

Hi MathsIsFun,
I tried playing one game of easy, medium and hard.
I won against easy and medium, but lost against hard.
The game worked fine and produces a challenging skill level.
I did think that with easy and medium the move is played so quickly that
it was hard to see what move had been played sometimes, except that
there is always the text of the game below to look at which tells you what
has been played. Anyway it works very well and produces a good game.

Thanks ganesh and Stephen.
I could introduce a small delay.
Could Medium be a little harder do you think?
I could also have more difficulty levels. Beginner, Medium, Challenging, Hard, Extreme.

hi MathsIsFun,
More levels would be good. From medium to hard is a big jump.

I agree with the comments above: the game works just fine, and I think the difficulty levels are about right. The computer does move very quickly after you move, so occasionally I found myself pressing undo just to see what the computer did -- it might be better if you could either include a delay, or perhaps highlight the two squares involved in the computer's move with a little coloured border around them (which I prefer).

Hmmm... all I have to say is that Garbochess seems like a misnomer.

Hmm.. the medium and the easy levels are too easy for me but the hard level is hard... Good!
