Addition : 1 + 1 = 2, 1 + 2 = 3, 1 + 3 = 4, 1 + 4 = 5.... This is addition.

1 + 2 = 3, 2 + 3 = 5, 3 + 4 = 7, 4 + 5 = 9.... This too is addition.

3 - 1 = 2, 5 - 1 = 4, 7 - 2 = 5, 10 - 5 = 5, 21 - 13 = 8.... This is subtraction.

5 - 6 = -1, 13 - 9 = 4, 22 - 33 = -11,  65 - 75 = -10.... This too is subtraction.

2 x 3 = 6, 2 x 4 = 8, 10 x -3 = -30, -21 x 2 = -22, 35 x 4 = 140, -6 x -5 = 30.... This is multiplication.

This is division.

This is exponentiation.

This is finding roots.

Arhh! Good old binary answer.  Or maybe 1 + 1 = 1 as in one pile of sand added  to  one pile of sand = one pile of sand.
