Neils Henrik Abel was a Norwegian mathematician who contiributed a lot to mathematics. He didn't live for too long at died at a yound age.
The Abelian groups are named after him.
He is regarded as one of the best mathematicians ever.
There's also a nice joke about Abel.
Q: Why didn't Abel prove Fermat's Last theorem?
A : Beause he wasn't Abel too.

My speciality at memory skills are with numbers and pictures. I'm good with words, too, but I'm better with numbers overall.

I'm not very good at remembering, that's probably one of my greatest weaknesses.

Devante',
I have got a remarkable memory ( atleast I had one) with relation to numbers.
Maybe thats because I use mnemonics.

I never use mnemonics. Never in mathematics, it is easier just to remember them. It's like in music, at first you use mnemonics, but you get the hang of reading it like a sentence eventually.

whats a mnemonic anyway?

Mnemonics - A form of words or letters that assists the memory, (eg the rhyme beginning Thirty days hath September helps with the number of days in a month, and the initial letters of the mnemonic Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain give the order of the colours in a rainbow.

Not sure why you would need mnemonics for that...

i think it started with an a. i dont know its really annoying when you know the mnemonic but you dont know what the word that the thing is for is

Yeah I've got an excellent memory for musical notes, but even though I've been reading for a long time, words have got to be the hardest things to remember, i think it's because you have your own unique way of talking and you change the wording of sentences to suit yourself. In maths you don't really have a 'unique' way of talking so to speak and so numbers are easier to remember because your own method isn't getting in the way of remembering the general method.
And the only mnemonic i've ever bothered to use is SOHCAHTOA.

That's more of an acronym than a mneumonic. Mneumonics are sentences where the first letter of each word matches the first letter of each word that you want to remember. Acronyms are simply the first letter of each word you want to remember strung together to make another word.
I probably couldn't have explained that worse if I tried.
SOHCAHTOA was fun because you could say it like SOCKAH TWAAAAA and pretend to be a ninja.
Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.

There are some useful mnemonics for e.

You probably have seen it around on the forums.
HOWEVER. Mnemonics can sometimes be useless. It is better to just use the standard way of learning numbers (or, in this case, the natural logarithm). I ignore mnemonics for reading music, I just remember the letters.
In my opinion, numbers are easier to memorise than letters.

In an attempt to steer this topic vaguely back to where it's meant to be, I will guess that Espeon's mystery word might be 'necessary'. But not necessarily.

I will guess that Espeon's mystery word might be 'necessary'. But not necessarily.
She said she thinks it starts with an 'a' though. So, I will take a blind guess at 'association'.
Any more bets people, before espeon reveals her mystery word ... ?
